Oregon Piper away to Scotland for World Pipe Band Championships
It's that time of year again. The time of year when the weather is pretty much guaranteed to be great in the Pacific NW, everyone's getting married, and I'm inconveniently out of the country for the entire month of August.
My band, the Portland Metro Pipe Band, is headed to Glasgow, Scotland for our third trip to the "World Pipe Band Championships", the largest pipe band competition in the world. We'll be competing in the hotly-contested grade 2 level against about 24 bands (which is quite a few considering there are only two on the entire West Coast). Keep an eye on this blog for videos of our performances!
After the pipe band trip I'm taking an impromptu solo trip to Ireland, where my sole mission will be to play and hear as much traditional Celtic music as possible.
Wish us luck! I'll be gone from August 1st to August 25th
If you're looking for a bagpiper during this time please contact my piper-friend Travis Dutton, whom I've played alongside for 5+ years at: firstname.lastname@example.org
